The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Dharmapala Weerakkody, held a meeting with a delegation of the Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO) at the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Dhaka on 21 September 2026, with a view to further strengthening cooperation between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the Information Technology (IT), Information Technology-enabled Services (ITES), and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sectors.

The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the IT and IT-enabled services sectors, with particular emphasis on developing stronger business-to-business and institutional linkages, encouraging investment and business partnerships, and facilitating skills development and greater private-sector engagement.

During the meeting, High Commissioner Weerakkody briefed the BACCO delegation on the forthcoming Sri Lanka Expo 2027, the premier international trade exhibition of Sri Lanka, scheduled to be held from 14–17 January 2027 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo. He extended an invitation to BACCO to facilitate the participation of a Bangladeshi business delegation at the Expo, highlighting the opportunities it would provide for businesses and industry stakeholders from the two countries to establish direct contacts and explore potential partnerships, particularly in the IT, ITES and BPO sectors.

The meeting also explored opportunities for BACCO and its members to participate in relevant business-to-business (B2B) sessions, networking programmes and other activities associated with Sri Lanka Expo 2027.

The BACCO delegation expressed its interest in further strengthening the longstanding and cordial relations between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, while exploring new avenues of cooperation that could contribute to the further development and growth of the IT, IT-enabled services (ITES) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sectors in both countries.

The BACCO delegation comprised Mr. Tanvir Ibrahim, President; Mr. Faisal Alim, Secretary General; Mr. Abdul Kader, Director; Ms. Sayma Shawkat, Director; and Mr. Salim Sarker, Executive Coordinator, BACCO Secretariat. Ms. Gayanga Dias, Second Secretary of the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Dhaka, was also present at the meeting.
